Congress the Band is curently one of South Carolina’s most exciting emerging rock acts, blending indie, classic, and southern rock influences into high-energy performances that turn any venue into a full-on party.
Formed in June 2023 in Charleston, the quintet—vocalist William Bennett, guitarist Thos Spratt, guitarist Daniel Guy, drummer Jett Seawell, and bassist Robert Farmer—started as an informal acoustic duo with Bennett and Spratt jamming on their couch on Congress Street (inspiring the band’s name). They quickly evolved into a full band, releasing their debut single “Out The Door” in late 2024, a groovy, soulful track that showcases their tight rhythms and heartfelt storytelling. Since then, they’ve dropped several more singles like “Bay Street,” “Colorado,” “Wrap Around,” “Caught,” and “Modern Lady,” building a dedicated following with their relatable lyrics and infectious sound.
Described as the fastest-growing college band in the state, Congress has exploded from local Charleston favorites to a regional touring force, packing clubs, college towns, and festivals across the Southeast. Their live shows are known for high energy and crowd engagement, earning them spots at venues like The Windjammer, The Senate in Columbia, and beyond.
Adding a special local tie for our Columbia listeners: Band members Jett Seawell (drums) and William Bennett (vocals) hail from the Columbia area, making their homecoming shows here extra meaningful. The band even received the key to the city during a massive street turnout in Columbia!
With hundreds of thousands of monthly streams on Spotify and a rapidly growing fanbase, Congress the Band is a fresh voice in South Carolina music.
