Flower Shopping is the musical project of singer/songwriter and guitarist Ross Swinson. What began as a solo outlet for Swinson’s songs has evolved into a full collaborative effort, thanks to the enthusiasm of his fellow musicians.
At the time of Flower Shopping’s inception, Swinson was playing lead guitar in Barnwell, a folk-tinged indie rock band fronted by Tyler Gordon. While Swinson initially envisioned Flower Shopping as a solo venture, his bandmates had different plans.
The Columbia-based band is comprised of musicians who bring experience from various other projects, creating a dynamic collective around Swinson’s songwriting. When Barnwell eventually dissolved—an amicable split that allowed Gordon to pursue his own material through his new project Hillmouse—Flower Shopping continued to grow as a fully-realized band.
Today, Flower Shopping stands as a testament to organic musical collaboration, where Swinson’s songs found their fullest expression through the collective energy of musicians who believed in them from the start.
